Talk about a stressful start to the day. I was all set to head to a meeting in Dubai this morning and my 2018 F-Pace just clicked at me when I turned the key, nothing else. No slow crank, no lights dimming, just a single click and silence. I managed to get a jump from a neighbor and made it to my meeting, but now I’m sitting here wondering what to do next. I know the battery is the original one from when I bought the car, so it’s probably around five years old now, which I guess is a decent run given the climate here. The thing is, I don’t want to risk driving it too much longer because I’ve heard that a failing battery can put extra strain on the alternator and other electrical components, especially in Jags with all their fancy electronics. I was thinking about just going to a nearby general garage since it seems like a simple battery swap, but then I remembered that Jaguars need the battery management system reset so the car knows it has a new battery, otherwise it might not charge it correctly. I’m based in Sharjah and I’ve seen a few workshops around the Muwailih area that look pretty busy. I’m hoping I can find Jaguar car battery fitting in Muwailih Commercial from a Quick garage that actually knows what they’re doing with the coding side of things. Has anyone had their F-Pace or XJ battery replaced at one of these places and did they do the proper reset? I really don’t want to have to go to the dealer and wait a week for an appointment.
